The Umbrella Buttercream Bridal Shower or Engagement Cake is a buttercream cake decorated with an umbrella, designed to match the theme of the day. The umbrella comes from the tradition of showering the bride with gifts and good wishes, so guests recognise the theme at a glance.
Choose decoration colours that follow the party palette, whether that is blush and gold, sage and white or the wedding colours themselves. Add the bride's name, a line such as Showered with Love or the wedding date in a writing colour of your choice. Buttercream keeps the cake soft and light, which suits an afternoon tea or brunch menu, and sizes are available for a close circle of friends or a larger gathering.
